Holly English and Claudia Sambo
Potato Money, digital video, 2020
Prepared for There and Back Again (TABA) Online Symposium at UAL's Centre for Circular Design
Potato Money began as research imagining an alternate future where potatoes function as currency. We explored how this method might enable a circular economy and a priority shift towards a sustainable lifestyle. The film was first shown at TABA symposium 2020. We have kept the original version as a snapshot of archival history despite some outdated statements. We continue to promote the concept via social media, often as a humorous take on current events - notably the rise of cryptocurrencies. The work resides in discourse and we relish opportunities to broaden our understanding of economic systems.
