Ira Kazi
Iraboty (Ira) Kazi (she/her) is a PhD candidate at the University of Western Ontario, studying art history and visual culture. Her current research explores how heterotopic spaces presented in Italian Renaissance pastoral paintings are reconfigured and mobilized in constructions of nature in queer cinema. Her research interests include South Asian diasporic art and cinema, Dante studies, queer cinema and theory, imagined spaces, and early modern literature and art. She is the current editor of Western’s visual arts department’s graduate students' journal, tba: Journal of Art, Media & Visual Culture. She is working with Dr. Cody Barteet on the research project “Preserving the Cultural and Artistic Heritage of St. John the Evangelist, London, Ontario as a Model for the Anglican Diocese of Huron.” Ira divides her time between London and Hamilton and works part-time at the Hamilton Public Library.
